Whether you’re looking for family-friendly activities, ideas for dates, or places to go for a solo stroll, there are plenty of things to do during the summer months in New York City. Here are some of my favorites!
- Roosevelt Island – Head to 59th St. and 2nd Ave in midtown Manhattan and catch a tram over to Roosevelt Island! I recommend going for a stroll by the water at the tip of the island in Lighthouse Park.
- Met Cloisters – The Met Cloisters is essentially a less crowded extension of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Located in Washington Heights, the Cloisters focuses on the Romanesque and Gothic periods.
- Central Park – Located between the Upper East Side and Upper West Side of Manhattan, Central Park is the perfect spot to play frisbee with your kids in the Great Lawn or walk hand in hand with your S.O. by the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.
From May-September, temperatures in NYC can range from the mid-60s to a heat index in the low 100s! On those really hot summer days, I recommend checking out some of the creative and tasty ice cream shops below.
- Momofuku Milk Bar – There are several locations throughout Manhattan: Chelsea, East Village, Financial District, Nolita, West Village, Midtown, and Upper West Side. My personal favorite is their Fruity Pebble ice cream topped with Fruity Pebbles. If you’re visiting on a chillier day and are in the mood for something other than ice cream, I recommend trying the Milk Bar Pie.
If you don’t live in the city, you can still get a taste of Milk Bar by ordering online! They deliver nationwide across the U.S. and in Canada. You can get $10 off your order of $50 or more here: http://fbuy.me/v/isabellevitanyc
- Wowfulls – Located on Houston Street, this Wowfulls serves its scoops of ice cream cradled in waffles and topped with fruit and Pocky Sticks.
