If you’d like to join me for my weekly Scripture reflection series, I’ll be using the RSVCE of the Bible. Here is the entire I Corinthians XVI passage.
“Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”
In my last few reflections, I have spoken about how my relationship with Christ has been struggling. Our relationship is constantly evolving, and there are good and bad days. This past week, God gave me the strength to make an incredibly difficult, but necessary, life-changing decision. This is a decision that I had been grappling with for the last few months, one that I had been faced with twice before, but there was something noticeably different about this third and final time. There was something inside of me that told me to fight through the pain and to finally do it, and I believe that this time was different because of how fervently I prayed to God; I sought His advice about this subject, sometimes while I was in tears, because I needed to know that I was doing the right thing, not only for myself, but also for everyone else involved. This week, He made it abundantly clear that I was making the right choice.
I plead with anyone who reads this post to take solace and refuge in God. In times of uncertainty, His grace will shine through as He shows you the way. I have never felt more connected with and thankful for Christ than I have in this last week, and I would never have known this feeling had I not taken a leap of faith and given myself completely to Him. God truly knows what is best for us; our path may be painful – it may be filled with extraordinary tests of patience, love, and kindness – but we will come out as better people, better Christians. If we can serve the Lord to the best of our ability and trust in Him while persevering through all the hardships of life, then we will be able to rest easy in the end, knowing that we have fulfilled our purpose.
“Our Lord, come! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.”
Great post! “Let everything you do be done in love” is one of my favorite verses! It’s easy to let frustration or anger or worry take over your thoughts, and it can be a struggle to be positive and kind and thankful in those hard moments. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It’s such a simple yet inspiring verse and is definitely one of my favorites.

That’s amazing to hear how you were able to make this tough decision recently. I also appreciate when people are honest about struggles in faith and the ups and downs of a relationship with God. It’s such a natural thing that we don’t always hear about.
I agree and think it’s important to give the full picture; people are accustomed to only hearing about the positive aspects and highlights of people’s lives online, so I want to emphasize that it’s ok for one’s relationship with God to have its ups and downs. In my opinion, you get stronger with each and every difficult situation you overcome 🙂
I love this post! My name actually comes from 1 Corinthians. In the King James Version it says “Charity” instead of love, so that’s where my mom got my name from! I love how unique and special it is!
Thank you, and that’s so cool! I love your name 🙂
It is great that you have a scripture series. This week’s scripture is very powerful. Being confident can lead us to different things and helping us overcome our struggles. This is definitely a time of uncertainty and we need to find the strength to keep things going. Thank you for sharing!
