Earlier this week, I had dinner with a friend at a restaurant that I had been wanting to try for quite a while – Glass Ceiling Nomad. Located at 1204 Broadway, the restaurant was a convenient 10-minute walk from my friend’s workplace and is near some of her favorite coffee spots. I’d heard great things about Glass Ceiling Nomad before dining here, so I wanted to tell you about my experience as well.
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you’re greeted by a lovely pink wall of flowers on your left. We stopped to admire the wall for a minute or two before checking in for our 6:30 dinner reservation.
Sam, the GM, kindly checked us in and showed us to our seats, which, to our pleasant surprise, seemed like the best ones in the restaurant! The egg chairs were extra comfy and spacious – you would definitely have room to cuddle up next to your loved one in the same chair. Each chair also came with pillows and a blanket which I appreciated during this particularly cold winter evening.
We were seated next to a long table that’s suitable for larger parties, and we had a clear view of the bar. The indoor seating had a good amount of space between each table, so parties could comfortably talk amongst themselves.
For drinks, we ordered the Happy Sangria and Tokyo Mule Sake. The Tokyo Mule Sake was made with ginger beer and lime, and my friend said it was the best mule she’s ever tasted. I had the Happy Sangria with Malbec wine, fortified wine, elderflower syrup, press pomegranate, passion fruit juice, orange juice, and tonic. As someone who likes fruity cocktails, I thought this one really hit the spot. The Happy Sangria had just the right amount of sweetness to it and it went very well with the rest of my meal.
For my entree, I ordered the Angel Hair Pasta with tomatoes, sweet basil, and shredded parmesan. I’ve typically found pasta dishes to be bland at many restaurants, but this one was incredibly flavorful. The parmesan and tomatoes were perfectly balanced, and I appreciated how the Angel Hair was cut to make the pasta easier to eat.
My friend ordered the Atlantic Salmon Fillet with Indian spiced green lentils and lemon citrus butter. She enjoyed how juicy and tender the salmon was, and she also appreciated the garnishing and presentation of the dish.
Since we were fairly full from our entrees, we decided to split the Tiramisu for dessert. We were both very surprised at just how good this was; I honestly don’t think I’ve ever eaten a Tiramisu faster than I did this evening! It had the perfect amount of cocoa powder on top, and the layers were incredibly moist and sweet. We also loved the macaron and blueberries that it came with on the side.
Lastly, we decided to venture outside to explore more of the restaurant before heading out. After walking by an additional seating area with couches and two more egg chairs, we went out to the terrace area where there’s a crystal clear view of the Empire State Building! It was amazing to see it lit up at night all from the comfort of the restaurant’s private balcony. Between this view and the glass rooftop, I can only imagine how beautiful the ambiance is here during the daytime.
Overall, my dining experience at Glass Ceiling Nomad was easily a 10/10. The value for the meal was great, the ambiance was good for casual dining with friends, and the customer service was impeccable. Sam, the GM, made the experience incredibly personable and memorable for us. She checked in several times throughout the evening and made sure to wish us goodnight before we left. Though these may seem like small gestures, they’re what made the dining experience go from great to fantastic for us. While many restaurants forget about how customer service is such an important part of the dining experience, Sam and everyone else at Glass Ceiling Nomad made sure to make their customers feel seen and appreciated.
What to order from Glass Ceiling Nomad: Happy Sangria, Angel Hair Pasta, and Tiramisu.
I would absolutely recommend dining here for your next meal, and I’d love to return in the future! You can view the menu at Glass Ceiling Nomad here and make a reservation on OpenTable here.
Ooh this place looks fab! I love the flower decorations, those are such a nice touch! As a massive pasta lover I’d really love to try that dish too, it sounds so flavorsome! Thanks for sharing x

It certainly is!
This sounds like an amazing place and the food looks delicious! Great post.
Thank you! It certainly was.
The food looks fantastic! I was intrigued by the name of the restaurant. Sure enough, the restaurant’s website mentions the glass ceiling “…is a metaphor that has long been used to represent the invisible barriers that prevent women and underrepresented communities from rising beyond a certain level in a hierarchy. We’re empowering the community to break through ‘The Glass Ceiling’ with us.” Lovely mission ~ I’d be interested in learning more about how they are working toward their mission.
Yes, I noticed that as well and I love their mission! Not many restaurants have a mission as significant as Glass Ceiling Nomad’s, so this made me appreciate the experience even more 🙂 Great idea – I’d love to sit down with Sam to talk more about how the restaurant is working toward its mission!
