If you’re like me, you’ve probably been holed up at home (for the most part) since March. Many people, my family included, still don’t feel comfortable eating out; we’ve opted to make our own meals, but even those can get a little boring after eating them repeatedly for three months straight. Here are some of my favorite ways to get a variety of meals while staying healthy:
First off, I recommend investing in some good quality, disposable gloves to open your food delivery packages with. I received this pack of 100 Premium Nitrile Gloves from Clinical Supplies. Whenever I have packages delivered, I prefer to not touch the boxes with my bare hands, so these are great! I also use gloves whenever I’m going in and out of my building since I have to touch elevator buttons and doorknobs. These gloves are really easy to put on right before you leave the house and dispose of just before you get in your car; if you’re interested in purchasing these, you can use SAFE5 for 5% off your order.
Now, for some food recommendations, I’ve been loving RightRice which is conveniently available on Amazon! It’s nutritious rice made from “lentils, chickpeas, peas + rice, with more than double the protein, five times the fiber and almost 40% fewer net carbs than a bowl of white rice.” There are no empty calories or excessive carbs, making for a much healthier alternative to your standard white or brown rice. Another plus is that this doesn’t have that distinct healthy food taste. It actually tastes like regular rice, which I love! This comes in original and seasoned flavors such as lemon pepper, Spanish, garlic herb, Thai curry, and cilantro lime. If you’re looking for an alternative to your regular white rice, start with the original flavor first! It’s delicious and very easy to cook: just pour the pouch of rice into a saucepan of boiling water, turn off the heat, let it stand for ten minutes, transfer it to your plate and enjoy! You can order their rice through Amazon Prime for delivery within just a few days 🙂
To get some variety, we’ve had Splendid Spoon delivered. Splendid Spoon is a subscription-based meal delivery service, and all of their products are plant-based, vegan, GMO-free, and sustainable. I received 11 items in my box: a Detox Shot, Brown Rice Taco Bowl, Aloo Gobi Quinoa Bowl, Coconut Curry Rice Bowl, Cuban Black Bean Bowl, Green Goddess Quinoa Bowl, Dragon Fruit Smoothie, Strawberry Goji Smoothie, Blueberry Coconut Smoothie, Mint Chip Smoothie, and Mango Guava Smoothie. My personal favorite from the entire package was the Mango Guava Smoothie! It was creamy, sweet, and fruity – just how I like my smoothies to be. Their lunch plan includes 5 bowls for $65, the breakfast + lunch + reset plan includes 5 smoothies, 5 bowls and 1 full-day reset for $125, and the breakfast + lunch plan includes 5 smoothies and 5 bowls for $85; these are all delivered weekly and you can skip a week as needed. If you don’t end up wanting more of their products, you can easily cancel your future orders after your first delivery. You can use this link to learn more and get $10 off your subscription!

This stuff looks great! I’m like you, I know restrictions are being lifted on eating out, but I’m just way too cautious to be eating out yet. But the takeout where I live is not so healthy. These products look great: healthy, tasty, and safe since it’s being delivered to your home! Thanks for the recommendations.

My biggest plus to quarantining hasn’t been so much in eating (though that’s improved) but I drink so, so much more water than I ever used to. It’s definitely made a difference.
I’ve been trying to drink more water as well! Thanks for reading.
Oooo! These tips are amazing! I’ve been doing the same things with the gloves! If I have to take them off, I use sanitizer! I have eaten out but keep my mask on at all times and social distance!

These are great tips! We’ve been lucky enought to keep the cases under control lately and are down to just a handful in my province, but I am sure there will be more waves of this before they can get it under control world wide and so I have masks and gloves and things on hand just to be safe and still don’t eat out and take a lot of precautions just in case. Who knows how many asymtomatic people are walking around.
It’s great to hear that you’re taking all these precautions!
Right rice sounds great to me! I love chick peas, lentils and rice. I’m going to order some to mix things up and make it a little easier on myself. Thanks!
RightRice is the best! I really love their Original flavor and was so pleasantly surprised when I tried it.
Thanks for the recommendations! Some of it sounds so good that I’m def going to have to check it out!

I’ve never heard of rightrice or splendid spoon but both sound great! I eat a lot of rice so this sounds like a way healthier alternative I might have to give it a go! I’ve spent the last few months trying sooo many new recipes, and now can’t believe I didn’t used to do things like make my own hummous. It’s funny how time in quarentine can really change how we eat!
RightRice is so good! I can’t recommend it enough, so I hope you get a chance to try it.
This is such a great post for those who feel at risk or uncomfortable still. Personally I like to support my local independents; and have done especially recently as the business to them is so important (all delivery to my house though). Thanks for sharing some of your recommendations!

Ooooh I like that there are some ways we can still get takeout and be safe about it. I always wash my hands and sanitize anything that gets delivered to my home. Ooooh Splendid Spoon sounds delish with all of the ingredients that come with their box!
